Native Bee Hive “Home to Many” (Artist Shane Christensen & Lyndon Davis)

Native Bee Hive “Home to Many” (Artist Shane Christensen & Lyndon Davis)

‘Home to Many’ another collaboration between Shane and Lyndon shares the stories of the local habitat of the native animals and the importance of these old trees in the cycles of the bush. The sculpture also incorporates a shield designed by local Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi artist Lyndon Davis sharing the iconic Bunya (Bunyi) tree.

We are grateful for the support from our local community in helping make this project happen. The Original Eumundi Market provided the space for the carving of this sculpture, before it’s delivery to the Eumundi Primary School.

Centuries-old gum tree given new life thanks to talented woodcarving artist

This hive was generously funded by the Eumundi and District Historical Association through ‘Arts and Culture Eumundi’.

And a special thanks to the Eumundi Green and SALT magazine for sharing the stories of the tree and these beautiful bee hives.
