Tree Place on the Horizon

Tree Place on the Horizon

Tree Place has joined the Horizon Festival this year, and will be using natural dyeing to share the story of people place, connection and community. The work begins in a Pre Horizon call out for all natural dyers around the world to be part of a global Art Installation that shares the beauty of plant alchemy in an art installation, of 100’s of squares installed at the SCU Sunshine Coast, Sippy Downs. The story of these squares and the people who have joined us to create ‘Standing Here’ can be found on @thetreeplace or #treeplace

The program offers workshops (Eumundi, Nambour & Sippy Downs), to share the knowledge and inspiration for people to make their own naturally dyed work. This sustainable practice, can help eliminate millions of litres of toxic chemicals and products that flow into the waterways of this planet. We can be inspired by the beauty of this inspiring process and in our own way start the change.

The other exciting and fun opportunity is the Wearable Art Prize and Fashion Parade in Eumundi, there are five categories, Natural Dyed Creation, Sustainable Art, Wearable Headpiece, Student Creation and Best Construction, each category is eligible for a $250 prize. Entries close 18th of August.

And lastly to help support and promote the Artisans and businesses that have already embraced Natural Dyeing, we are hosting a Natural Dye Pop-UpMarket full of gifts, clothing and homewares all made here on the coast. This Market will be held at the SEVGEN Cultural market Showcase and some of themoney from sales will go towards supporting the incredible work that SEVGEN does to empower and share the Culture of the Indigenous people of the Sunshine Coast.
